Early Gold pear is an upright oval-headed tree with glossy dark green leaves that turn burgundy-purple in the fall. White spring flowers are followed by early maturing golden pears that have white flesh and ripen in late August. The sweet-tasting fruit is small and crisp, and is great for fresh eating and preserves. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. Please note that this tree will require a second pollinator in order to fruit. (bluegrassnursery.com)
