"One of the slower growing oaks, but a good choice for urban areas as it is quite tolerant of heavy air pollution. Adapts to a wide variety of soil types including clay, but prefers loamy soils in sunny locations. Make sure you have a lot of space for this oak as the roots are very competitive. Creates a wonderful shade canopy if given plenty of space to grow. Bright fall colours. Acorns are edible and sweet, and can be ground into flour to make bread." (onplants.ca)
