American Plum is a fast-growing tree with a shrubby form that produces edible fruit, excellent for making jam, jelly, and pies. This shrub has great ornamental value, blooming in mid-spring with fragrant showy white flowers that attract various pollinators including the Red-spotted Purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) and many moths and birds including Baltimore Orioles.
